EE0511/0512 and EE0521/0522: IB Theatre I & II

The Theatre course is designed to encourage students to examine theatre in its diversity of forms from around the world. This may be achieved through a critical study of the theory, history and culture of theatre and will find expression through workshops, compositions, or scripted performance. Students will come to understand that the act of imagining, creating, presenting and critically reflecting on theatre in its past and present contexts embodies the individual and social need to investigate and find explanations for the world around us. The theatre course emphasizes the importance of working individually and as a member of an ensemble. Students are encouraged to develop the organizational and technical skills needed to express themselves creatively in theatre. This is an IB elective course.

EE 0711/0712 and EE0721/0722: IB Film SL I and IB Film HL II

This IB course explores the history, theory, and practical creation of cinematic storytelling from an international perspective. Students analyze classic and international films to understand how visual media conveys meaning and emotion across different cultures. Working individually and in production teams, learners gain hands-on experience with screenwriting, directing, editing, and sound design for their IB film portfolios. EN3311/EN3312 and EN4311/EN4312: IB 11 English HL I and IB 12 English HL II

As an advanced IB course, this class immerses students in the detailed study of literature and language from diverse cultures and periods. Students refine their critical thinking skills by analyzing how literary form, narrative technique, and context shape meaning. Through expressive writing, oral presentations, and analytical IB assessments, learners develop sophisticated communication abilities while meeting all state curriculum standards. All SOL requirements are met, and students take both the English EOC Reading and the Writing SOL LPA to earn verified credits toward graduation.

MA4141/4142 and MA 4241/4242: IB Math Analysis and Approaches SL/HL I and IB Math Analysis and Approaches SL/HL II

MA4441/4442 and MA4641/4642: IB Math Applications and Interpretations SL I & II

Students explore topics including number and algebra, functions, geometry and trigonometry, statistics, probability, distributions, correlation and regression, and introductory calculus. MC0039, MC0049: IB Theory of Knowledge

As a flagship component of the IB Diploma Programme core, this unique course challenges students to reflect on the nature of knowledge and how we know what we claim to know. Learners evaluate information sources, analyze personal biases, and explore links across different academic disciplines. Classroom discussions focus on real-world case studies, ethical questions, and current global issues. Ultimately, TOK develops critical thinkers capable of navigating information in an increasingly complex world.

MC0071/0072: IB Sports, Exercise and Health Science HL I and II

This interdisciplinary IB course applies scientific inquiry to human movement, athletic performance, and general health. As part of the IB laboratory science curriculum, students study anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and nutrition to understand how the human body responds to physical activity. Experimental lab work allows learners to collect and analyze physical performance data firsthand. This course offers ideal preparation for students pursuing university majors or careers in sports medicine, physical therapy, and health sciences.

Involving aspects of the composition, performance and critical analysis of music, the course exposes students to forms, styles and functions of music from a wide range of historical and socio-cultural contexts. Students create, participate in, and reflect upon music from their own background and those of others. They develop practical and communicative skills which provide them with the opportunity to engage in music for further study, as well as for lifetime enjoyment. This is an IB elective course.
